Hyderabad: The Telangana government has cleared long pending scholarship dues by releasing Rs 365.75 crore in a single move. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka approved the release to benefit students under the BC, SC, and Tribal Welfare Departments. The decision aims to settle arrears that remained pending since the previous government’s tenure.

According to the input, the Deputy Chief Minister cleared all pending scholarship dues in one go. The release covers scholarships owed to students from backward classes, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes. The move reflects the People’s Government’s focus on education, even amid financial constraints. Officials said the step was taken to ensure students do not face hurdles in continuing their studies.

Bhatti Vikramarka stressed the importance of education in bringing lasting change in society. He said, “Decisions are being taken to ensure that BC, SC, and ST students receive their rightful support without delay.” The statement underlined the government’s intent to remove delays in scholarship payments. Meanwhile, officials noted that the clearance would bring immediate relief to students waiting for funds.

As per official orders, Finance Department officials released the funds on Monday evening. The total allocation includes Rs 21.62 crore for the BC Welfare Department. It also includes Rs 191.63 crore for the SC Welfare Department. In addition, Rs 152.59 crore was released for the Tribal Welfare Department. Therefore, the entire pending amount of Rs 365.75 crore was cleared at once.

Later, a review meeting took place at Praja Bhavan under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. Finance and Welfare Department officials attended the meeting. Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania also took part. During the meeting, officials reviewed the pending arrears. They then finalized the release process to ensure timely disbursement to students.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen educational support systems. Officials said the aim was to remove bottlenecks in scholarship distribution. However, the government acknowledged financial challenges. Despite this, Bhatti Vikramarka reaffirmed that the government would not compromise on student welfare measures.

The release of Rs 365.75 crore is expected to help thousands of students. It will allow them to continue their education without disruption. Officials believe the move will restore confidence among beneficiaries and ensure smoother scholarship payments going forward.
