Secunderabad Cantonment Board Elections Cancelled

Delhi/Hyderabad, March 17 (Maxim News): The Ministry of Defence has issued a gazette canceling the Secunderabad Cantonment Board elections.

It may be recalled that the Center has issued a notification for the conduct of elections to 57 Cantonment Boards of the country. In this regard, a notification was issued on February 17 this year. It was announced that elections will be held on April 30 this year. There are eight wards in Secunderabad Cantonment Board.

In 2015, Secunderabad Cantonment Board elections were held. The tenure of the Cantonment Board expired in February 2020. With this, the Center appointed a nominated member. It seems that when the nominated members asked to postpone the cantonment board elections for 6 months, the defense department responded and decided to cancel it. (Maxim News)
