Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada Railway Stations To Be Upgraded As Eco Smart Stations

Hyderabad, March 28 (Maxim News): South Central Railway has taken up the task of developing ‘Eco-Smart Stations’ by achieving environment standards of ‘ISO-14001’ laid down by Bureau of Indian Standards in the form of environment management system. Three Railway stations of SCR Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Vijayawada are among the 36 stations o¬n Indian Railways, which have been taken up for upgradation as per the guidelines of National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Secunderabad Station has earned the distinction of being the 1st Railway station to be certified as “Green Railway Station” o¬n Indian Railways and received the recognition of “Platinum Rating Certification” during October 2017, the highest rating in this category from CII-IGBC. Secunderabad station was ranked 6th out of 75 A1 category stations o¬n Indian Railways in the third-party audit conducted in the year 2018 by Quality Council of India (QCI) in Cleanliness Standards.

Kacheguda Railway Station has been certified as “Green Railway Station” with “Gold Rating” from CII-IGBC during October 2018. Kacheguda station was ranked 14th out of 75 A1 category stations in IR in the third-party audit conducted in the year by Quality Council of India in Cleanliness Standards.

Vijayawada Railway Station has been certified as “Green Railway Station” with “Gold Rating” from CII-IGBC recently i.e., in the current month, March 2019. BZA station was ranked 4th out of 75 A1 category stations in IR in the third-party audit conducted in the year 2018 by Quality Council of India in Cleanliness Standards.

Green Rating is evaluated mainly o¬n the basis of six important parameters viz., Sustainable Station facility; Health, Hygiene and Sanitation; Energy Efficiency; Water Efficiency; Smart Green Initiative; Innovation and Development. All the three stations Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Vijayawada are maintaining the parameters as per the environmental standards. In addition to the above, National Green Tribunal (NGT) has laid down certain norms for achieving environment standard ‘ISO-14001’ by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for selected railway stations within a specific period of time. Above environment friendly initiatives are being regularly monitored and top priority is accorded for attaining prestigious Environmental standard “ISO-14001” certification. (Maxim News)
