Seek Co-operation Of All Political Parties In Preparation Of The Clean Voter List: Ronald Rose

Hyderabad, September 04: The District Election Officer (DEO) and GHMC Commissioner, Ronald Rose, has called upon the representatives of political parties to cooperate in the preparation of a clean voter list.

The DEO held a meeting with the representatives of national and state-level recognized political parties, returning officers, and nodal officers of GHMC elections today to discuss the correction of errors in the voter list.

The DEO said that the draft voter list has been released and there are a total of 4.61 lakh voters with various types of errors or corrections that need to be taken care of through Form-8. So far, 4,20,499 applications have been collected and the remaining 41,269 people have been asked to provide their full cooperation.

He also said that 12,147 applications were received during the special voter registration campaign. He said that as directed by the Election Commission, a meeting will be held at the constituency level every Wednesday at 3 pm under the chairmanship of the ERO along with representatives of all political parties.

The DEO directed the ROs and EROs to look into the objections raised by the representatives of the respective parties on the changes in the polling booths and give written answers. He also informed that BLO App is available exclusively in the special voter campaign undertaken as part of the second summary revision. If any BLOs do not perform their duties properly, appropriate action will be taken against them.

The representatives of all parties asked the DEO to organize a special campaign on two more dates as there was a great response to the special summary revision campaign program held on September 2, 3, 26 and 27 of last month.

For voter awareness, mobile phone messages have been sent to 10 lakh property taxpayers under GHMC. The DEO said that along with audio campaigning in the city’s main squares, bus stands, and railway stations, large-scale campaigning is being done through clean auto tippers.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Shankaraiah, Zonal Commissioners Venkatesh Detre and Venkanna, Returning Officers, other nodal officers, and Karwan member Kausar Moinuddin, on behalf of the AIMIM party. Bahujan Samaj Party representatives Sunil and Nandish Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party representatives Ponna Venkataramana, Ajay Kumar, and K. Pawan Kumar, Aam Aadmi Party representatives D. Sudhakar and Thakur Rakesh, Communist Party of India (Marxist) representative M. Srinivasa Rao, Congress Party representatives Niranjan and Rajesh Kumar, BRS party representatives D. Konda Reddy, and A. Karthik Reddy, and AIMIM party representative Syed Mushtaq Ahmed. (Balram Singh)
