Seizure Of Certain Ayurvedic Medicines For Making Misleading Advertisement

Hyderabad, March 31 (Maxim News): Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials, detected certain Ayurvedic medicines circulating in the market with misleading claims on their labels, specifically stating they treat ‘diabetes’ and aid in ‘breast enhancement and firming’. such claims are in contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

During the special drive conducted to detect medicines moving in the market with misleading and objectionable advertisements, DCa officials of Patancheru zone detected ‘Ashwagandha Churnam’ manufactured and marketed by Dwibhashi Bapanna ayurvedic Nilayam Pvt Ltd, cherlapally, Telangana.  The label of the product bears a misleading claim stating that it ‘reduces blood sugar levels, stocks of the medicines were seized during the raid carried out at a medical shop in Ameenpur village, Sangareddy district. 

DCa officials of Medchal Zone detected ‘Shape Up Breast Cream’, manufactured by Ayurgen Herbals, Kukatpally, the label of the product bears a misleading claim stating that it aids in ‘breast enhancement and firming, also detected, ayurDia Diabetic Capsules’ manufactured by: Ayurgen Herbals, Kukatpally, the label of the product bears a misleading claim stating that it treats ‘diabetes’  stocks of the medicines were seized during the raid carried out at the manufacturing site of Ayurgen Herbals.

Advertising a medicine for the treatment of ‘diabetes’ and for altering the ‘Forms and structure of the female bust’ is prohibited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. 

P.Ramu, Assistant Director, Patancheru, G.Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Bollaram and M.Varaprasad, Drugs Inspector Pashyamylaram are among the officers who carried out the raid at Ameenpur, G.Sreenivas, Assistant Director, Medchal, N.Sahaja, Drugs Inspector, Prashanthi Nagar are among the officers who carried out the  raids and seized the products. .
