Set Back To BRS: No Confidence Motion Against Jawaharnagar Mayor

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (Maxim News): In a major setback to the KCRs’ BRS Party, the dissident faction passed a no-confidence motion against Jawaharnagar Mayor Mekala Kavya of Medchal Malkajgiri district. The Municipal corporation has 28 corporators including the Mayor. On Monday, 20 people voted against her, RDO announced this.

20 dissident corporators attended the meeting on the no-confidence motion in a special vehicle. Keesara RDO Venkata Upender conducted the voting. While there are 28 corporators in Jawaharnagar Corporation, the corporator of 16th division died due to illness earlier. Of the remaining 27, 20 voted in favor of the no-confidence motion against the mayor.  

Section 144 Imposed In The District

Later, RDO said that 20 people have voted in favour of no confidence. He said that the full details of the meeting will be handed over to Medchal malkajgiri District Collector. Police have imposed Section 144 in Jawaharnagar area to prevent any untoward incident in the background of voting.

Mayor Kavya turned away from the corporation office in the wake of the growing distrust. On this occasion, she said that they had declared no confidence in her. Some of the dissidents had raised the curtain on this process for their own gain. Adequate action should be taken against the leaders of the dissident group including the land grabbers.  (Maxim News)
