- AIMIM letter urges government to drop SETWIN relocation plan
- Purani Haveli site vital for SETWIN accessibility and services
The All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen has opposed the proposed relocation of the Society for Employment Promotion and Training in Twin Cities from Purani Haveli. AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi urged the State government to withdraw the plan and retain SETWIN at its present location. He conveyed his objection in a letter addressed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Owaisi said SETWIN has functioned from the Purani Haveli premises since its inception. He noted that the institute has grown into a key institutional interface for skill development, employment promotion, and welfare oriented initiatives. Therefore, he argued, the location holds long standing public value and institutional continuity.
In his letter, Owaisi stressed that the Purani Haveli site has gained permanence in public perception. He also said it remains the most accessible and appropriate place for the intended beneficiaries. According to him, shifting SETWIN from this location would affect those who rely on its services. He warned that such a move could weaken the very purpose for which SETWIN was created.
“The location has attained permanence in public perception and continues to serve as the most accessible and appropriate site for intended beneficiaries. Any proposal to shift the SETWIN office from Purani Haveli is likely to adversely impact accessibility and service delivery, thereby diluting the very objectives for which SETWIN was established,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the opposition comes in the backdrop of a recent government decision. The State government issued orders asking all government offices operating from private buildings to shift to government owned properties. This directive triggered the proposal related to SETWIN’s functioning from Purani Haveli.
However, Owaisi maintained that SETWIN’s case needs special consideration. He highlighted its public role and direct engagement with people seeking training and employment support. Therefore, he appealed to the Chief Minister to reconsider the proposal and allow the institute to continue at its existing premises.
The issue has drawn attention as SETWIN remains a known centre for employment linked training initiatives in the twin cities. Any change in its location, as pointed out in the letter, could affect access and service delivery for beneficiaries who depend on the institute’s facilities.
