Significance of Shab-e-Barat
This night marks Prophet Mohammed’s entry into Mecca and is believed to be an occasion when people’s destinies for the coming year are decided. Muslims spend the night praying, seeking forgiveness, and preparing for Ramzan.
Special Prayers and Gatherings
Many mosques in Hyderabad will hold special prayers and religious sermons. Large gatherings are expected at:
- Mecca Masjid
- Jamia Masjid, Musheerabad
- Vazir Ali Mosque, Fateh Darwaza
- Jamia Masjid Jafaria, Sanathnagar
- Azizia Masjid, Mehdipatnam
- Jamia Masjid, Mahboob Chowk
Religious meetings will also take place at:
- Milad Grounds, Khilwat
- Moghalpura Playground
- Quli Qutb Shah Stadium
Prominent Islamic scholars will address the gatherings at these locations.
Visits to Graveyards
On this night, people visit cemeteries to pray for their deceased loved ones. To help visitors, GHMC and the Telangana Wakf Board have cleaned the graveyards and arranged temporary lighting. Overgrown plants and garbage have also been removed, and senior GHMC officials supervised the cleanup.
Appeal to the Youth
Community elders have urged parents not to allow underage children to ride motorcycles or drive cars during the night. They also encouraged young people to spend time praying in mosques instead of roaming the streets and causing disturbances. (Maxim News)
