As part of the Praja Palana initiative, Shabbir Ali participated in the distribution of free fine rice to poor families. Accompanied by government officials and elected representatives, he personally handed over fine rice to beneficiaries and later joined a Dalit family for a community meal. Calling the moment “deeply satisfying,” he said dining at a beneficiary’s home in his native village felt like eating in his own house.

“This scheme brings quality rice to poor families and ensures food security to all those living below the poverty line. Over 80% of the beneficiaries are from economically weaker sections including Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities,” he said. He praised the government’s decision to allocate Rs 13,000 crore to distribute 30 lakh tonnes of fine rice, calling it a historic initiative.

He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in the supply and distribution of rice. “No irregularities should be tolerated in the process—from godown transportation to ration shop delivery. If any dealer or official is found guilty of malpractice, strict action will be taken,” he warned.

Earlier in the day, Shabbir Ali launched the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ campaign with a Constitution Protection Padayatra in Machareddy. The march culminated in a public meeting at the Shabbir Ali Function Hall, where Kamareddy in-charge Kathi Venkataswamy also participated.

Speaking at the meeting, Shabbir Ali said the Congress party had initiated this nationwide campaign in protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s derogatory remarks on Dr B.R. Ambedkar in Parliament. “This movement aims to expose how BJP and RSS are disrespecting Ambedkar and undermining the Constitution,” he said.

Carrying portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ambedkar, and the Indian Constitution, the padayatra moved door-to-door, raising awareness on constitutional values. “Only by protecting the Constitution can India remain a true democracy. The BJP is trying to replace it with a Manusmriti-driven agenda,” he alleged.

He appealed to the public to counter religious fundamentalism through peaceful protests and Gandhian methods and urged for continued awareness campaigns in every village. Pamphlets were distributed during the march and all participants took a pledge to uphold Ambedkar’s ideals and defend the Constitution.

In another key engagement, Shabbir Ali inaugurated a paddy procurement centre at the Machareddy Agricultural Market Committee. Addressing farmers, he urged them to utilise the procurement centres set up by the government and avoid falling prey to middlemen.

“The Congress government is committed to purchasing every grain produced by farmers. The State has also announced a Rs 500 bonus for fine rice varieties,” he said. He directed officials to ensure there were no problems in the functioning of the procurement centres and assured that the government would prevent any shortage of gunny bags or other logistical issues.

“These centres have been established purely for the benefit of farmers, and we will continue to work towards their welfare,” he stated. (Maxim News)
