During the event, Shabbir Ali said the Congress government was disbursing interest free loans worth ₹304 crore across Telangana under the third phase of the scheme for women SHGs. He explained that these loans would reach 3.5 lakh women Self Help Groups, showing the wide reach of the programme. Specifically in Kamareddy constituency, he handed over cheques worth ₹3.25 crore to local SHGs, which marked a significant support for women’s groups in the area. He also oversaw the distribution of sarees to SHG members as part of the outreach.

Shabbir Ali told the gathering that the Congress government aimed to make one crore women in Telangana financially self reliant and, in his words, turn them into “crorepatis”. He stressed that this initiative was not just a routine scheme but a step towards fulfilling promises made to the women of the state. He noted that the Congress government had already provided interest free loans to women SHGs twice after coming to power, and this was now the third phase being rolled out across Telangana. He said that empowering women through financial independence remained a core objective of the government.

Further, Shabbir Ali underlined that the administration wanted every woman to stand on her own feet, support her family’s growth and lead what he described as a worry free life. He said the government’s schemes aimed to offer comprehensive support to women in different areas, not just credit access. Along with the interest free loans, he listed welfare measures such as construction of Indiramma houses for eligible women and supply of fine rice to every household. He also mentioned the provision of LPG cylinders at a subsidised rate of ₹500 and 200 units of free electricity to families as part of efforts to cut financial burdens.

According to him, these steps created regular income streams while also promoting social inclusion. He also said the Congress government was implementing social welfare programmes that focus on people with disabilities and on gender equity, showing what he called a comprehensive and inclusive approach to development.
