  • Shabbir says Jubilee Hills by-poll is a choice between renewal and regression

Senior Congress leader and Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir has urged voters of Jubilee Hills to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, calling the November 11 by-election “a choice between renewal and regression.” In his appeal on Monday, Shabbir said the by-poll was not just about a local contest but a decision that would shape Hyderabad’s political direction.

“The election reflects whether Hyderabad’s most urban constituency wants continuity of inclusive governance or a return to the politics of convenience,” he said. He encouraged voters to treat their ballot as “a verdict on performance, fairness and public accountability.”

Highlighting the progress made since Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s government took office, Shabbir Ali said Congress had begun to rebuild public trust, particularly in education, welfare, and civic governance. “The people gave Congress a chance in 2023, and that mandate is now translating into visible work — from sanctioning of new professional colleges to empowerment of minority women. Jubilee Hills should strengthen that momentum by voting for Naveen Yadav,” he remarked.

The Congress leader framed the by-poll as part of a broader shift in Telangana’s political climate, claiming that the state was moving away from arrogance and centralised decision-making. “This election is not about a single seat — it’s about what kind of politics Hyderabad wants. Naveen Yadav represents a generation that believes in dialogue, not domination,” Shabbir said.

He warned against splitting votes among smaller players, saying it would weaken the electorate’s voice and allow those “rejected by the people” to make a comeback. Shabbir credited the Congress government with reopening communication channels with community bodies, entrepreneurs, and students to make governance more participatory and transparent.

Emphasizing Jubilee Hills’ social diversity, he said a Congress victory would ensure every section of society, from gated colony residents to daily-wage workers, has representation. “A Congress win here means every section will have a voice, not just the privileged few,” he added.

Urging citizens to evaluate the promises of rival parties against their track records, Shabbir cited unfulfilled commitments on housing, employment, and urban transport in the past. He said the Congress had taken a more transparent path in policymaking. “This time, people will not be swayed by slogans or short-term inducements. They want accountability,” he observed.

Concluding his appeal, Shabbir Ali called for a strong voter turnout, particularly among youth and women. “Every single vote will decide whether Hyderabad moves ahead with confidence or slips back into chaos. Let your vote speak for good governance and inclusive progress,” he said.
