Hyderabad, April 4: Shashi Tharoor convoy came under attack in Kerala, with his driver and gunman assaulted during an incident in Vandoor on Friday night. Police have registered a case and taken one person into custody.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Chellitod in Vandoor at around 7.30 pm. Tharoor was travelling to attend an election campaign organised by Congress leader AP Anil Kumar. However, the convoy was stopped when a group of five individuals blocked the road at Chellitod Bridge.
Authorities said the attackers used two vehicles to obstruct the MP’s convoy. Meanwhile, Tharoor reportedly instructed his gunmen to clear the vehicles blocking the path. At that point, a scuffle broke out between the group and the convoy personnel.
During the confrontation, the driver and gunman were attacked. The FIR states that both sustained injuries in the incident. The complaint was filed based on a report by Tharoor’s gunman KP Ratheesh. Therefore, police initiated action and began an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Vandoor police responded to the incident and registered a case. Officers also detained one person involved in the attack on the same night. Further inquiry is ongoing to identify the remaining individuals in the group.
