She teams registered Four Rapes, 15 Sexual Harassment, Two eve-teasing cases in April
Hyderabad: In April, the Cyberabad police received 86 complaints from women and remanded 12 accused aged between 18 and 30 years in April. All complaints have been acted upon and conducted 12 awareness programs in which 5,650 persons attended.
In a pressnote here today, the Cyberabad police said nine decoy operations were conducted and three offenders were caught live while indulging in acts of teasing. Besides, 15 persons have been counselled at CAW cell at Cyberabad Commissionerate.
Citing a few cases, the police said on April 1 this year a software professional approached the SHE Team and lodged a complaint stating that a person claiming to be rich businessman befriended her, developed acquaintance, enticed her in the name of love and promise of marriage and sexually assaulted her repeatedly and made her pregnant. When she insisted that he marry her, he reportedly refused and he had even gone to the extent of getting her aborted and absconded. On her complaint, the KPHB police registered a case and arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody.
On April 3, a woman complained to the SHE Team that while she was working as a project manager in a software company at Madhapur in 2015, she developed friendship with her colleague, who enticed her in the name of love and promise of marriage and sexually assaulted her repeatedly and also caused severe financial loss to her by demanding money from time to time by blackmailing her.
On April 19, a car driver, who developed elicit affair with a woman, kidnapped her 16-year-old daughter and confined her in a rented house in Bhongiri and sexually assaulted for three months. When her mother lodged a complaint with the SHE teams, the Jagatgirigutta police arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody under production of children from sexual offence (POSCO Act-2012) and Nirbhaya Act.
The Cyberabad police said in April, they have registered four rape cases, 15 sexual harassment, two eve-teasing and one petty cases. Most of the victims sent messages of appreciation on the good work done by SHE Teams.
