SLBC Tunnel Accident: DRF Teams Enter The Field

Nagarkurnool/Hyderabad, Feb 23 (Maxim News): Rescue operations are in full swing in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) Tunnel at Domalapenta in Achampet mandal. Authorities are making strenuous efforts to rescue 8 workers trapped in the tunnel. Rescue teams under the leadership of HYDRA Commissioner  Ranganath have also been deployed to rescue the workers.

HYDRAA and DRF teams have intensified rescue operations at the SLBC tunnel where the accident occurred. HYDRA Rescue Teams have been engaged in rescue operations on the orders of Chief Secretary (CS) Shanthi Kumari. Commissioner Ranganath along with other officials is reviewing the situation at the scene. On the other hand, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao have reached the Domalakunta SLBC tunnel. The ministers, who left the Domalapenta by helicopter from Begumpet on Sunday morning, reached the scene.

The rescue operations were monitored and a review was held with the officials. Directions were given on the rescue operations. Minister Jupally revealed that rescue operations have been ongoing in the tunnel since Saturday to save the workers. He said that the rescue teams have been working there since night. The minister revealed that oxygen is being pumped inside the tunnel and water pumping work is going on continuously. The rescue teams have already reached the Tunnel Boring Mission (TBM) and Minister Jupally expressed confidence that the workers will be rescued in a few more hours.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi called CM Revanth Reddy. Rahul inquired about the SLBC accident. The Chief Minister explained to him about the accident and the rescue operations. He said that the victims would be brought out safely. Rahul Gandhi appreciated the government’s response and the rescue operations to this extent. Their conversation lasted for about 20 minutes.  (Maxim News)
