SLBC UPDATES: Rescue Operations Ongoing In Tunnel, Spring Water Is Surging

Srisailam/Hyderabad, Feb 24 (Maxim News):  Rescue operations are ongoing at the Nagar Kurnool SLBC Tunnel, Authorities are working hard to rescue 8 project personnel who were trapped and missing in the accident that occurred on the Srisailam Left Canal Embankment Tunnel route.

There is serious concern over the condition of two engineers, two operators, and four workers who are trapped in the tunnel.  Rescue teams struggled till 3 am on Sunday to save their lives.  NDRF, Army, and HYDRA rescue teams are also participating in these rescue operations. 

To this extent, rate hole miners were brought from Delhi and examined and it was found that soil and iron sheets were stuck in the tunnel boring machine for up to 400 meters.  It was said that mud had accumulated in the tunnel to a height of 2.5 meters and a huge amount of water was gushing out in the tunnel Officials say that 3500 liters of water is gushing out per minute, which has become a problem for rescue operations.  They also revealed that the water removal process has been accelerated and that the NDRF team is deploying heavy motors for dewatering.  (Maxim News)
