Sonia Gandhi Re-Elected As Chairperson Of Congress Parliamentary Party
New Delhi: Former Congress chairman Sonia Gandhi on Saturday was unanimously elected as the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, PTI reported citing sources.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had proposed Gandhi’s name for the said post during the party’s meeting and leaders like Gaurav Gogoi, Tariq Anwar, and K Sudhakaran had seconded the proposal.
It is to be noted that, Sonia Gandhi, a Rajya Sabha member, has been re-elected to the said post.

Earlier today, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) passed the resolution that party MP Rahul Gandhi should be appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha.
Following the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress increased its seat total to 100 from 52 in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, making it the second-largest party in the recently concluded elections.

Numerous notable leaders from the Congress party, such as UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, and general secretary KC Venugopal, attended the CWC meeting underway at the central hall of the Parliament
