Sreenivas Reddy And Balwinder Jammu Elected President And Secretary General Of IJU

New Delhi /Hyderabad, Nov.5 (Maxim News): The National Executive Committee of the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) elected K Sreenivas Reddy, a veteran leader of the journalists trade union movement in the country, President of the Indian Journalists Union (IJU), the largest and most representative organisation of the working journalists in the country. The National Executive Committee at its emergency meeting at Press Club of India in New Delhi on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Amar Devulapalli who was appointed as the National Media Adviser by the Andhra Pradesh Government.

The National Executive Committee also appointed Balwinder Singh Jammu, Principal Correspondent of the Punjabi Tribune at Chandigarh and President of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union (PCJU) Secretary General of the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) in place of Sabina Inderjit who was suspended from the primary membership of the union for anti-union activities. He is member of the Press Council of India.

K Sreenivas Reddy is a veteran journalist who is presently the editor of Prajapaksham Telugu daily in Hyderabad. In his four and half decades journalists career, he served Visalaandhra for about 40 years and rose to its editor after starting his career as a staff reporter. He was one of the founders of the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and served the organisation as Secretary General earlier. He is the Chairman of Media Education Foundation India (MEFI), a trust dedicated to improve the professional skills of the working journalists in the country. He was earlier General Secretary and President of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists. He served as the founding Chairman of Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh.

Balwinder Singh Jammu is the Principal Correspondent of the Punjabi Tribune in Chandigarh. He is also General Secretary of the Tribune Employees Union and Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union. He is also a former Secretary and Vice President of the Indian Journalists Union. He also served as President of the Chandigarh Press Club. (Maxim News)
