SRSP gates closed with fall in inflows
Nizamabad, July 16 (Maxim News): With flood level receding slowly at the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP), irrigation authorities closed all nine gates of the project on Saturday.
The water level in SRSP has reached 1087.90 feet as against it the Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 1,091 feet.
Meanwhile, 6000 cusecs of water through the escape gates and 10,000 cusecs of water through the main canal area being released for the Kharif season.
Ever since the onset of monsoon this year, the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) on the Godavari river has been receiving heavy inflows. Situated in Balkonda Assembly constituency in Nizamabad district, the reservoir is brimming with water as the project continues to get heavy inflows from upstream areas in Maharashtra. While the full capacity of the reservoir is 90 tmcft, SRSP currently has 76 tmcft water.
Meanwhile, officials are monitoring the situation closely and all required measures have taken to restrict movement of people in the project areas inundated with flood waters to avoid loss of life. (Maxim News)
