State Top In Country In Laying Bridges, Roads: Prashant

Hyderabad, Nov.2 (Maxim News): Roads & Buildings Minister V Prashanth Reddy today said the State stood atop in the country by constructing a large number of bridges and roads. The State government has sanctioned Rs 2,495 crore to construct 511 bridge-cum-roads in the State, he said.

Participating in a program here in coordination with the Centre, the minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has allocated a significant Rs 12,000 crore in the budget for improving road connectivity and network in the districts and villages. So far, we have built 400 bridge-cum-roads and spent Rs 1,700 crore for the purpose, he said, adding that the aim of the government was to provide better roads and bridges and check dams to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and increase groundwater level by preserving rain waters.

During floods and heavy rains, the causeways in villages are washing away and to overcome the problem, the government has taken up on a war-footing the construction of roads-cum-bridges in adequate number and check-dams in 184 locations, he added. Prashanth Reddy said the State government was constructing big bridges, including two across the River Godavari, three on the Manjeera and four across Maneru. The program was held for using technologies to improve bridges’ life and fix defects.

He also extended cooperation for setting up of new project management cell in this regard. (Maxim News)
