Steps should be taken to increase pelican signals in the city for pedestrian safety: Ronald Rose
Hyderabad, September 12: GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose has directed the authorities to take steps to increase pelican signals in the city for the safety of pedestrians. To further improve the signal system, a review was conducted on Tuesday with ENC, Police and Electricity officials.
Speaking on this occasion, the Commissioner said that a total of 404 ATSC and Pelican signals have been set up in the city in coordination with GHMC and Police Department. Out of which 169 are old signals, 113 are new ATSC system, 282 signals have been installed and 78 pelican signals have been installed for the safety of pedestrians. 404 signals installed in the city were installed in 57 corridors. It was ordered to modernize the 44 signals in the non-corridor and connect the command control.
Additional Commissioner of Police Traffic Sudhir Babu explained that there is no other ATSC signal system for traffic control, so 20 to 30 percent travel time can be saved through ATSC signal in the city.
ENC Zia Uddin, Electricity SC Srinivas, EA Mamata, representatives of traffic signal managing agency and others participated in this meeting.
