The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat asking him to appear before it on December 26 in connection with a probe into a sting CD video involving the Congress stalwart.
The move has met with a strong response from the Uttarakhand unit of Congress, which termed it as an “act of political vendetta and misuse of the probe agency by the BJP prior to the elections.”
According to the notice served to the CM, he is to appear before the CBI in New Delhi office at 11am on coming Monday. On April 29 this year, the CBI had registered a preliminary enquiry to investigate a sting operation which allegedly showed Rawat offering bribes to the rebel Congress MLAs to support the party during the floor test.
