Student held for comments against YS Sharmila
Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police here on Saturday took into custody an MCA student on charges of posting vulgar comments against YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister YS Sharmila on YouTube.
The police brought the student, identified as Venkateswara Rao of Prakasam district, to the city in connection with the case on Saturday. His family is now residing in Guntur district. Police sources said Rao, after watching videos on YouTube linking Sharmila to a popular Telugu film actor to malign her reputation, posted objectionable comments.
It is learnt that Rao developed a soft corner towards the TDP as his father reportedly got land from the government. The police officials are yet to confirm this.
The CCS police earlier issued notices to nine persons, who were identified with the help of Internet Protocol (IP) address, under Section 41 of CrPc. It is learnt that they uploaded videos on YouTube and Facebook for getting more likes.
It is to mention here that, the Cybercrimes police had registered a case based on a complaint received from Sharmila. A few weeks ago, she met City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and complained about the efforts were being made to malign her reputation through videos.
