Students should Embrace the Subject Diversity for Excellence in Education: Pramath Raj Sinha

Hyderabad: Entrepreneur, philanthropist and institute-builder Professor Pramath Raj Sinha, the Founding Dean of the Indian School of Business and Founder & Chairman of Harappa Education, was the Chief Guest at the Graduation Ceremony 2023 of GITAM (Deemed to be University) Hyderabad, on Saturday, June 3rd.

Eminent academicians including Dr. Virander Singh Chauhan, Chancellor of GITAM (Deemed to be University) convened at the ceremony to bid farewell to the class of 2023. Addressing the graduating students M. Bharat, President, GITAM (Deemed to be University) said, “I urge all students to be responsible global citizens. Stay connected with your alma mater, GITAM, and actively contribute to its growth and development. Remember, education is a lifelong journey, and the impact of your experiences at this esteemed institution will continue to shape your path long after you graduate.”

He spoke on the importance and need for collective philanthropy in establishing quality universities across India. “Excellence should not be limited to just one or two institutions; it should be a virtue that stretches across our great nation. Each of us has a role to play in creating an educational landscape that fosters innovation, inclusivity, and brilliance”, he said.

Post lighting the lamp, Professor Sinha addressed the students saying, “Lessons outside the classroom are important than lessons inside the classroom. I request you all to make mental notes of your graduation day. Your efforts to get to GITAM and graduate from here must be celebrated.” Sharing how education was tool for social empowerment, he shared his own example to say how if he hadn’t received a scholarship, he may have ended up elsewhere in life. He congratulated students and ended on a kind note that they must celebrate their alma mater, GITAM which has created a plethora of choices for them and helped them trust their instincts which will ensure that they navigate through a successful career ahead.

Students savored the last moments of nostalgia in the campus as they were conferred degrees in presence of their parents and teachers. 1,265 students including first rankers and 21 gold medalists received their degrees. The graduating students donned Indian attires accessorized with ‘angavastra’ while receiving their degrees.

Renowned folk poet Goreti Venkanna was conferred with the Honorary Doctor of Literature degree. He enthralled the audience with recitation of his famous poetry.

The establishment of GITAM – Hyderabad campus took place in 2009, with a strong commitment to enhance the capabilities of individuals and foster academic excellence and innovative research. The campus strives to push the boundaries of knowledge through interactive and collaborative teaching methods. Through a rigorous admission process, it has successfully enrolled highly capable and talented students from across the country. The campus comprises six schools, namely the School of Technology, Hyderabad Business School, School of Pharmacy, School of Architecture, School of Science, and School of Humanities & Social Sciences. These schools offer a range of graduate, postgraduate, and research programs that aim to intellectually transform students into well-rounded individuals.

The event concluded with a big gesture of gratitude by students for their proud parents. A huge round of applause was heard for the parents who contributed to their success.
