Supreme Court Stays Carbon Dating Of ‘Shivling’ Inside Gyanvapi Masjid Till Next Hearing
Delhi/Hyderabad, May 19 (Maxim News): The Supreme Court today stayed the Allahabad High Court’s order to scientifically determine the age of ‘Shivling‘ and use of modern technology like “Carbon Dating” in the Gyanvapi Masjid premises in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
It is known that this Shivalingam was seen in the videographic survey conducted last year. But the Muslim side claims that it is a fountain.
A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud heard the petition filed by the Gyanvapi Masjid Committee on Friday. Looking at the consequences of the Allahabad High Court’s order to conduct carbon dating to determine the age of Shivling, it said that there is a need to look into it more deeply. The orders of the High Court are stayed till the next date of hearing.
