Hyderabad, Sept.12 (Maxim News): Former Speaker of Assembly in the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh K. R. Suresh Reddy today formally joined the TRS and severed his 30-long years of association with the Congress.
TRS supremo K. Chandrashekhar Rao welcomed and admitted Suresh Reddy into the party at Pragati Bhavan in the presence of senior party leaders, including ministers from Nizamabad district. Whatever might be the reasons and claims Suresh Reddy may be making to justify his joining the pink brigade, it is open secret that he had fallen into the trap of “Operation Akarsh” launched by KCR to dent the Congress on the eve of Assembly elections.
Last week, IT Minister K T Rama Rao called on Suresh Reddy along with senior party leaders like Advisor to the Government G. Vivek and held discussions to persuade him to join the TRS. His efforts fructified as Suresh Reddy undoubtedly has been waiting in the wings in search of greener pastures as he faced political wilderness following his drubbing at the hustings in 2009 and 2014.
Addressing his supporters, Suresh Reddy explained the reasons for his joining the TRS. He said TRS supremo KCR, who is known to him since 1989, had invited him to be part of the development of Telangana State. During the last four-and-a-half years, the State has been moving forward due to the missionary zeal of KCR and had even earned laurels from other States for its rapid economic growth in a short time. Thus impressed by the vision, commitment and dedication of KCR to make achieve Bangaru Telangana, he has decided to be part of the ongoing development process, he explained.
Reiterating that he was not joining the TRS for any political gains nor was he aspiring any position or power in the party. As a son of the soil, he wanted very much to be part of KCR’s mission and vision, he added. Some noted leaders also joined the TRS, including Nerella Anjaneyulu, from Uppal segment Bhandari Lakshma Reddy, Shanthi and others.
Leaders KT Rama Rao and Etala Rajender welcomed them into the TRS fold by offering traditional pink shawls. MPs K Keshav Rao, Kavitha and others were present at the program. Also former MLA and Congress leader Koduri Satyanarayana Goud, Agriculture Market Committee chairman Akarapu Bhaskar Reddy and others joined the TRS. The Uppal leader Lakshma Reddy decried the proposed alliance between the Congress and Telugu Desam for the forthcoming elections. Fresh joinings will strengthen the ruling party in Nizamabad and in Uppal segments, the ministers said. (Maxim News)
