Minutes after the State government announced the lockdown on Tuesday, wine shops in the twin cities witnessed a mad rush as tipplers thronged in large numbers to purchase stocks.

All the wine shops, bars and toddy shops will be closed for two days in Hyderabad in the view of Holi festival, said Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar.

All the wine, toddy shops, bars and clubs were closed in six erstwhile districts of Telangana in the view of the graduates' MLC election on Sunday. The wine shops were closed at 4 pm today and will be reopened at 4 pm on Sunday evening.
