Tadepalli, August 29: TDP leader Ganji Chiranjeevi from Mangalagiri joined the YSRCP in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at latter’s camp office here on Monday. He quit the TDP 20 days ago as he has slim chances to contest once again from Mangalagiri. TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh has been extensively touring Mangalagiri constituency to win as MLA in next Assembly elections.
Chiranjeevi and his followers went to CM’s camp office accompanied by Mangalagiri YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy. Jagan Reddy invited Chiranjeevi and his wife into the YSRCP by draping the party shawl around him. He contested from Mangalagiri in 2014 and lost to rival party candidate.

In 2019, Ganji sacrificed Mangalagiri seat after the TDP high command decided to field Nara Lokesh in 2019 elections. Lokesh lost to YSRCP nominee Alla Ramakrishna Reddy by a margin of 5,337 votes. Kurnool MP Sanjeev Kumar and MLC Murugudu Hanumantha Rao were also present.
