Hyderabad, Oct. 23: The Telangana government has approved voluntary Aadhaar authentication for key urban development services, including applications through the online Transferable Development Rights (TDR) portal.
Special Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Jayesh Ranjan issued the government order on Thursday, following approval from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The facility will allow property owners, builders and developers to use Aadhaar authentication for registration, login and application submission on the TDR portal.
The government has also extended the facility to official logins used by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Urban Planning Directorate officials.
Aadhaar Verification to Improve Transparency
The government clarified that Aadhaar authentication will be entirely voluntary. Authorities must not deny services to applicants who do not have Aadhaar or choose not to use it.

In such cases, applicants can submit alternative government-issued identity documents, including passports, voter photo identity cards, driving licences and PAN cards.
According to the government, the measure aims to prevent fraudulent registrations, curb identity misuse and improve transparency in official records.
The order establishes Aadhaar authentication as an additional verification option for eligible urban development services, while retaining alternative identification methods for applicants.
