New Delhi, Oct.6 (Maxim News): Polling in the Election to the 119-member Telangana State Legislative Assembly will be held on a single day, on December 7, and the results will be declared on December 11, the Chief Election Commissioner, OP Rawat, announced here today to the media. Along with Telangana, elections will also be held to the Legislative Assemblies of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram simultaneously.
According to the election schedule released, the election notification in regard to Telangana will be issued on November 12. The last date for receiving nominations will be November 19, and the scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on Nov 20 while the last date for withdrawals is November 22.
Polling for all the 119 assembly constituencies will be held in single phase on December 7 and counting of votes has been scheduled for Dec 11. With this announcement the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in four States, while in Telangana, the code has come in to force with effect from September 6, when the Assembly was dissolved, the CEO said. .
The election in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases, in the first stage, elections will be held in 18 assembly constituencies on November 12. In the second phase, the election in 72 constituencies will be held on November 20. Legislative elections in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram will be held on November 28. In Rajasthan also polling will be held on December 7 in a single phase.
