Telangana Auto Bandh Planned for February 16th to Protest Loss of Livelihoods
Telangana Auto Bandh | Hyderabad, February 7th: Telangana auto drivers are gearing up for a statewide shutdown on February 16th to protest against the negative impact of the government’s free bus scheme on their livelihoods.
TATU Auto Union state president Vemula Maraiah Pulu called for active participation from all drivers, highlighting the urgency of addressing the challenges faced by the auto and cab industry.
Pulu expressed frustration with the government’s lack of response to the plight of drivers who are losing jobs and resorting to extreme measures like suicide due to the free bus scheme.

He emphasized that the shutdown aims to force the government to acknowledge the struggles of these drivers and find solutions to mitigate the financial hardships they are facing.
In a separate event, Pulu inaugurated the newly established BRTU Auto Union stand at Nehru Zoo Park, Bahadurpura.
The event saw the participation of various dignitaries, including State Organizer Secretary Dayyala Dasu, Greater Hyderabad Presidents of Building Construction Association Chennaiah and Narasimha, and Hyderabad District Presidents Neerajann, Pasha, Upender, Maqbool, and Mujath.
This planned shutdown signifies growing discontent among auto drivers in Telangana. Whether the protest will achieve its desired outcome remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly highlights the need for dialogue and solutions to ensure the sustainability of the auto and cab industry and the well-being of its drivers.
