Telangana BJP Chief Ramchander Rao Placed Under House Arrest
Telangana BJP Chief | Hyderabad, August 12: Telangana BJP state president Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest by Hyderabad police on Tuesday.
BJP leaders had planned to perform Kumkumarchana at the Peddamma Temple in Banjara Hills today. The event follows recent controversy after a miscreant allegedly vandalized the temple. Authorities reportedly acted on information that Ramchander Rao intended to visit the site.
In addition, the BJP leader was scheduled to tour Secunderabad and Goshamahal constituencies as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra.
Telangana BJP Chief | ‘House Arrest Unjustified,’ Says BJP
BJP state vice-president Gangidi Manohar Reddy condemned the move, stating that the government should refrain from arresting opposition leaders.
He called the action an attempt to obstruct political programs and compared it to the pre-emptive arrests made under the previous government.
“There is no place for such actions in a democracy,” Reddy said, warning that if the practice continues, the BJP will launch statewide protest programs.
