Hyderabad, Mar 16 (Maxim News) The Telangana government has decided to conduct the State Assembly budget sessions from March 16 to March 30.
The Business Advisory Committee took this decision for the 2026 to 27 financial year. The sessions began on March 16 with the address of Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to both Houses.
The Governor’s speech formally opened the budget session. Members attended the joint sitting on the first day.
The Assembly will discuss the motion of thanks to the Governor address on March 17 and 18.
The Chief Minister will reply after the discussion. Meanwhile, the Assembly will remain closed on March 19 due to the Ugadi festival.
On March 20, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will present the annual State budget. The budget presentation forms a key part of the session calendar.
From March 23, the House will begin discussions on departmental budget demands.
Members will debate allocations related to various sectors. The Assembly will continue these discussions in the following days.
The House will pass the budget on March 30. After the approval, the Speaker will adjourn the session. Officials confirmed the schedule after the BAC meeting.
Key Issues Likely During Telangana Budget Sessions
The government plans to introduce several important bills during the session.
Meanwhile, discussions may focus on the six guarantees promised by the ruling party. Members may also debate the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
The Musi river rejuvenation project may also come up for discussion. In addition, the Hyderabad Metro expansion may feature in debates. These topics may lead to detailed exchanges between treasury and opposition benches.
The government expects the session to focus on public issues. Therefore, it decided to continue the meetings till the end of March.
Officials said the aim is to address key concerns through legislative debate.
The budget session is expected to see active participation from all parties. Leaders are preparing to raise constituency issues. The proceedings may also include debates on welfare and development. (Maxim News)
