Another challenge is choosing a Muslim minister. The Congress party currently has no Muslim MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly) or MLCs (Members of the Legislative Council). This makes it difficult to select a Muslim representative for the cabinet.

It is to mention, here that The Telangana cabinet passed a resolution to nominate Telangana Jana Samithi leader Professor Kodandaram and news editor of the Urdu newspaper, The Siasat Daily, Amer Ali Khan for the MLC posts under the Governor’s quota on March 12.

This comes after the Telangana High Court quashed the nomination of the duo.

The HC’s order was in response to pleas by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders challenging Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan’s action in rejecting their nomination during the Legislative Council.

The nomination of the BRS leaders Dasoju Sravan Kumar and Satyanarayana as MLCs was recommended by the previous Telangana government of BRS while Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan were nominated after the Congress party came to power.

The recommendation passed by the then state Cabinet in July last year was sent to the Governor. However, she rejected the nominations on September 19 on the grounds that the two were “politically aligned persons”.

As of now, there are no updates from the Governor’s office on the issue.

However, there is a possibility of inducting the Muslim Member as the Minister in Revanth’s Cabinet, the name of Mohd Shabbir Ali who is a popular and accepted leader, presently he is the Advisor to Telangana Government on Minorities, SC, ST, and BC welfare.

The names of other Congress Muslim leaders are Faheem Qureshi, President, Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institution Society (TMREIS), and Feroz Khan, rounding.

The names of Amer Ali Khan and Prof. Kodandaram who are awaiting the governor’s nod on their nominations as MLCs are also appearing. If the Governor clears the name then there will be a tussle between Mohd Shabbir Ali and Amer Ali Khan.  But, the surprise will be the Chief Minister’s decision. (Maxim News)
