Telangana cold wave | Hyderabad, Dec. 22: The Telangana cold wave continued to intensify as minimum temperatures dropped sharply across several districts, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The IMD warned that minimum temperatures may remain three to four degrees below normal over the next two days. As a result, cold conditions persisted across north and west Telangana.
Several districts reported single digit temperatures, reflecting the severity of the cold wave. According to official data, Adilabad and Patancheru recorded 7.2 degrees Celsius. Medak registered 7.8 degrees, while Rajendranagar reported 9 degrees.
Meanwhile, Hanumakonda recorded 10.5 degrees, Nizamabad 11.7 degrees, and Ramagundam 11.9 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the chill affected both urban and rural regions.
Single Digit Temperatures Grip Multiple Districts
Reports indicated even lower temperatures in parts of Sangareddy district. Some areas reportedly experienced temperatures falling to nearly 5 degrees Celsius.
Consequently, residents faced harsh early morning and night conditions. The IMD noted that cold winds added to the discomfort in many locations.
Telangana cold wave
Northern and western Telangana districts are likely to remain under cold wave influence. These include Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.
Hence, the IMD advised people in these regions to remain cautious during early hours.
Hyderabad also witnessed unusually cold conditions for this time of the year. In some city pockets, minimum temperatures slipped into single digits.
Therefore, the weather department advised residents to limit exposure during late night and early morning periods.
Officials urged special care for vulnerable groups. Children, elderly persons, and those with existing health conditions were advised to take precautions.
Cold related ailments such as respiratory infections and joint pain may increase during such conditions. Hence, health authorities asked people to use warm clothing and avoid prolonged exposure to cold winds.
Meteorologists attributed the cold wave to northerly winds and clear night skies. These conditions allow rapid heat loss from the surface, leading to sharp temperature drops.
Meanwhile, no rainfall is forecast during this period, which may further sustain low night temperatures.
The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely. It may issue further advisories based on temperature trends.
Therefore, residents across Telangana are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and follow safety guidelines.
