Telangana Leads in Food Security and Public Welfare

Addressing the gathering, Shabbir Ali highlighted that Telangana is the only state providing free ‘sanna biyyam’ (fine rice) to nearly 80% of its population, calling it a landmark move that promotes dignity and food security for the poor and middle-class families.

“This is not just about food — it’s about dignity, security, and empowerment,” Shabbir Ali said.

He credited Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for laying the foundation through the National Food Security Act, and said Telangana under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has turned that vision into a tangible, impactful reality. Currently, 93 lakh families benefit from 6 kg of fine rice per person every month, making it a model for other Indian states.

Shabbir Ali criticized the previous BRS government for failing to address the long-pending demand for ration cards, especially for newly married couples and low-income households. The Congress government has fast-tracked the distribution process through gram sabhas, ensuring genuine beneficiaries are identified and included.
