Hyderabad, June 2 (Maxim News): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said the formation of Telangana stands as a tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs and decades of democratic struggle. He paid homage to those who laid down their lives for the statehood movement and extended Telangana Formation Day greetings to people across the state and the world.
The Governor unfurled the National Flag at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday as part of Telangana Formation Day celebrations. He also received a ceremonial guard of honour from the police.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor called on people to remember all those who contributed to the creation of modern Telangana. Referring to the Sanskrit phrase “Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi,” he said one’s motherland is greater than heaven and must always be respected and cherished.
The Governor highlighted Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, centuries old traditions and strong agricultural roots. He said the state’s rural economy and farming sector continue to play a vital role in its growth and development.
He noted that from the historic chain linked tank irrigation system of the Kakatiya era to modern irrigation projects, Telangana’s farmers have made a significant contribution to making the state prosperous and self-reliant.
The Governor also praised Telangana’s progress in information technology, pharmaceuticals, innovation and startups. He said the state has earned global recognition in several sectors and continues to attract investments and talent from across the world.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to uphold constitutional values and work towards inclusive growth. He said rural development, urban infrastructure, welfare of all sections of society and modernization of cities should progress together to build a stronger and more prosperous Telangana.
The Governor expressed confidence that Telangana would achieve greater milestones in the coming years and play an increasingly important role in India’s development journey.
Senior officials, including Governor’s Special Chief Secretary M. Dana Kishore, Joint Secretary Shashikirana Chary, Raj Bhavan officers and staff, attended the celebrations. (Maxim News)
