Telangana Govt On High Alert Amid Heavy Rainfall Warnings
Hyderabad, July 23, 2025 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has gone on high alert in view of continuous heavy rains across the state, particularly in Hyderabad, following warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Acting swiftly on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s directives, Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar held an urgent review with senior officials and issued key instructions to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions.
Precautionary Measures in Place
Minister Prabhakar personally spoke with Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, Collector Dasari Harichandana, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath, Metro Water Works, Traffic Police, and other relevant departments. He stressed the need for immediate preventive action to manage potential flooding and traffic snarls.

To tackle waterlogging, he ordered the deployment of special monitoring staff at 141 identified flood-prone points across Hyderabad. He also instructed NDRF and SDRF teams to remain on high alert and be ready for emergency response.
Citizens Urged to Stay Vigilant
Addressing the media, Ponnam Prabhakar urged citizens to stay indoors as much as possible and follow updates issued by authorities. He acknowledged that the ongoing week of rainfall has already caused traffic congestion and localized flooding in many parts of the city. He assured the public that the government is actively working to prevent repeat incidents.
The Telangana government’s proactive response reflects its commitment to public safety and readiness to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions.
