As part of this move, the government empanelled and promoted six officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. The decision reflects the government’s focus on strengthening senior leadership within the state police force.

Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao issued official orders on Wednesday, confirming the promotions. The officers belong to the 2012 IPS batch and currently serve in various operational and administrative roles across Telangana. The promoted officers include N Swetha, R Bhaskaran, G Chandana Deepti, Kalmeshwar Shingenavar, S M Vijay Kumar, and Rohini Priyadarshini. Each officer has handled key responsibilities in policing, intelligence, and law enforcement administration. Therefore, officials believe their elevation will improve coordination and efficiency at the senior level.

Promoted Officers to Assume Charge from January 2026

Following the orders, N Swetha will continue as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad city. Meanwhile, R Bhaskaran will remain in charge as Superintendent of Police for Civil Intelligence. G Chandana Deepti will continue to serve as Superintendent of Police for Railways at Secunderabad, handling sensitive transport security duties.

In addition, S M Vijay Kumar is currently working as the Commissioner of Police in Siddipet district. Kalmeshwar Shingenavar and Rohini Priyadarshini also hold important assignments within the department. The government decided to retain officers in their present postings to ensure administrative continuity and operational stability.

However, as per the orders issued by the Chief Secretary, all six officers will formally assume DIG rank responsibilities from January 1, 2026. Until then, they will continue in their existing roles while remaining empanelled for promotion. This approach allows a smooth transition without disrupting ongoing policing operations.

Senior officials stated that the promotions align with cadre management norms and future vacancy planning. Moreover, the decision supports long term leadership development within the Telangana Police. The empanelment also prepares the officers for higher strategic roles in the coming years.

The move has drawn attention within administrative circles, as timely promotions often boost morale across the police force. Additionally, the decision underscores the Telangana Government’s emphasis on structured career progression. With these promotions, the police department expects improved supervisory oversight and stronger command at the district and city levels.
