Telangana Have 1.92 cr Sheep: Srinivas Yadav
Hyderabad, Aug.23 (Maxim News): Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today claimed that Telangana is in the forefront to implement flagship program of Sheep Distribution to help Yadavas in the state. Srinivas Yadav informed that Telangana tops the nation with 1.92 cr sheep and produced 1.22 lakh tons of meat in the State.
A Team of NCDC made a visit to the state and held a brief meeting with the minister and officials concerned in the city here. After the program the team of NCDC appreciated the state government for sheep program.
The Minister with a video presentation explained the team about the Sheep distribution program to the official team. Srinivas Yadav said that it helped for creation of wealth and developed the Yadavas in a big way. This scheme is implemented only in Telangana and no other states are able to start them, he claimed.
He attributed the scheme to the vision and commitment of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The minister said that the second phase of sheep distribution program was on and the government released Rs 5000 cr. This was in addition to Rs 60000 cr released for the first phase of the sheep distribution program.
He informed that they gave 79.16 lakhs of sheep to 3,76,985 beneficiaries in the first phase.
The number of sheep was increased by 1.30 cr he said adding that the market value of the same is about Rs 6500 cr.
Under leadership of KCR the government gave the sheep to 7.61 lakh yadava families with each unit of 21 sheep (20 female, 1 male) for Rs 1.25 lakh. This will get them 75 percent of subsidy to benefit the yadavas he said. (Maxim News)
