Hyderabad, Nov 7 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court has issued Form-I notices to HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath and other officials in a contempt case.
The case concerns the alleged demolition of a farmhouse and other structures on private land at Ailapur village in Sangareddy district.
Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy issued the notices after the respondents failed to submit their responses. The Court directed them to appear in connection with allegations of wilfully violating an earlier order.
The notices were issued to T.K. Sreedevi, Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, and HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath.
The other respondents include Sangareddy District Collector P. Pravinya, Joint Collector R.D. Madhavi and Revenue Divisional Officer Rajender.
The notices also cover Ameenpur Tahsildar Y. Venkatesh, District Panchayat Officer Ravi and Ameenpur Municipality Commissioner Pradeep Kumar.
The Station House Officer of Ameenpur Police Station is also among the respondents.
98-Year-Old Landowner Alleges Violation of Court Order
The contempt petition was filed by M.A. Shareef, a 98-year-old landowner. He alleged that HYDRAA officials demolished his farmhouse and other structures on April 11, 2026.
The petitioner relied on an interim order issued by the High Court on September 25, 2024. The order restrained authorities from taking coercive steps to remove existing constructions pending further orders.
Petitioner’s counsel Deepak Mishra told the Court that a large contingent entered the property during the early hours. The team allegedly included HYDRAA, Revenue and Police personnel.
He alleged that the officials carried out the demolition without prior notice or an opportunity for a hearing. He also said the officials knew about the pending proceedings and the Court’s interim protection.
Mishra contended that the respondents deliberately violated the High Court’s order. He sought contempt proceedings against the officials for allegedly disobeying the Court’s directions.
Following the submissions, the Court issued Form-I notices to the respondents. (Maxim News)
