During the hearing, counsel for the BRS informed the court that the Speaker’s Tribunal had not yet furnished the records relating to the Speaker’s decisions and orders on the disqualification petitions.
Responding to the submissions, counsel representing the Speaker’s Tribunal requested additional time to place the relevant records before the court.
After hearing both sides, the High Court granted the Speaker’s Tribunal more time to file the documents and adjourned the matter to August 12, 2026, for further hearing.
The petitions filed by the BRS and BJP seek the disqualification of legislators who were elected on the BRS symbol but subsequently joined the ruling Congress, alleging violation of the anti-defection provisions under the Constitution. (Maxim News)
