Telangana Implementing New Approach To Enhance GSDP: CS To Niti Aayog

Hyderabad, Dec 20 (Maxim News): Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has told the Niti Aayog Chairman, Sumen Bery stating that Telangana state has commenced a new approach by asking the departments to prepare how each of them can contribute to enhancing GSDP, improving the economy and creating new jobs.

In a video conference with Niti Aayog Chairman, today, Chief Secretary informed that earlier the government departments used to work typically in a conventional approach focusing only on their department’s budgets, targets, etc, with the new approach which commenced in the state asking the departments to prepare how each of them can contribute to enhancing GSDP. Accordingly, instructions were given to all the departments to focus on jobs and entrepreneurship which will help in achieving rapid economic growth. Growth drivers were identified in every department.

The Chief Secretary claimed that the state had achieved rapid progress during the last eight years since its formation which is evident from the GSDP increasing from Rs. 5.5 lakh crores in 2014 to Rs. 11.58 crores last year. The Chief Secretary stated that the State government has formulated a clear goal of creating new jobs in the formal sector, rapid economic growth annually, and achieving a high GSDP growth.

Additional Collector (Local Bodies) of Karimnagar district Garima Agarwal gave a brief overview of the district economy and highlighted how state action plans are executed at the district level. Development of the Manair riverfront, increase in oil palm cultivation and the Dalit Bandhu scheme were identified as the new catalysts of growth in the district. IT tower was set up in the district as part of the development of the IT sector in tier 2 cities.

Special chief Secretary to finance Ramakrishna Rao, Special Chief Secretary MAUD Arvid Kumar, Special Chief Secretary to Animal Husbandry Adhar Sinha, Principal Secretary to Industries Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary to Agriculture Raghunandan Rao, Secretary to Schedule Caste Development Rahul Bojja, Secretary to Tribal Welfare Christina Zongthu and other officials attended the video conference.
