Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday inaugurated double bedroom houses near Rythu Bazar at Jai Bhavani Nagar of Vanasthalipuram. Spread across two acres, the double bedroom houses were built in three blocks — each block with nine floors comprising of 324 double bedroom houses. The houses were constructed at a cost of Rs 28 crore.
Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, MLAs Sudheer Reddy, Mallesham, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan were present.

Speaking to the media, Rama Rao said that the Chief Minister’s intention is to let the poor live with self-respect and decided to provide double bedroom houses to all the poor people. “The government has spent Rs 9 lakh on each house which comprises of a living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. No government has constructed the houses for the poor including Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata,” the minister said.
He further asked the residents not to dump wastage in the blocks and maintain hygiene by setting up committees. He said unhygienic conditions will spread disease-causing germs that will have ill-effect on children.
