Telangana launches prestigious health care profile initiative
Hyderabad: In a major step aimed at improving quality of healthcare services in Government hospitals, Telangana government on Saturday launched the prestigious Telangana Health Profile initiative on an experimental basis in Mulugu and Rajanna Sircilla districts.
Health Minister, T Harish Rao on Saturday launched the Telangana Health Profile initiative in Mulugu while Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) , K T Rama Rao was scheduled to launch the project in Sircilla.
After completion of Telangana Health Profile in the two districts, the initiative will be expanded to all the districts in Telangana. The health profile is essentially aimed at creating a database of vital healthcare parameters of each individual in the two districts.
During the launch on Saturday, Harish Rao said that the health profile initiative will be a milestone, as it will play a vital role in the overall improvement of the quality of health care services in Government hospitals.
“It is the dream of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to conduct the health profile across Telangana and leverage the data to improve health care facilities in government hospitals. However, due to successive waves of Covid pandemic, the initiative had to be postponed,” he said.
Earlier, the State government had planned to launch the initiative in December, 2021. However, due to the Omicron wave, the health profile project had to be halted.
As part of Telangana health profile initiative, vital information of each individual in the two districts including their Aadhaar number, residential address, sugar, blood pressure levels, history of ailments, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) like cancer, kidney ailments etc will be captured digitally.
Based on the health and medical history of each individual in the two-districts, risk-assessment will be taken-up so that high-risk individuals can be identified and necessary health care services are extended to them at the earliest.
If need be, individuals from the two districts, who need to undergo tests to ascertain their general health condition, will be able to avail all the 57 diagnostic tests available through TS Diagnostic’s scheme.
In case such individuals visit any government hospitals in Telangana, all their medical records, including medical history and other vital parameters, will be accessible to the health care providers through the cloud storage facility.
