Telangana Liberation Day: Amit Shah to address in Nirmal
Nirmal, Sept. 17: Union Minister Amit Shah will pay a visit to the Nirmal district on Friday on Telangana Liberation Day and will address a public meeting.
According to the reports, Minister Amit Shah will reach Nirmal at 1:50 pm and will start the blood donation camp on the occasion of PM Narendra Modi’s birthday today.. All arrangements were set for the BJP’s open meeting at Veyyi Vudala Marri.
It is learnt that he will hold discussions with the party leaders to chalk out the strategies to strengthen the party roots in the state.
It is known that BJP demanding the state government to celebrate September 17 as Liberation Day on which Telangana achieved freedom from autocratic Nizam rule.

It is to mention here that BJP Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao accused K Chandrashekar Rao–led state government for not celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day under the pressure of the Asadudin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).
“BJP has several times raised voice against the government to celebrate September 17 as Liberation Day, the day on which Telangana got freedom from Nizam rule,” he said.
Shah’s attendance at the event would certainly raise the pitch vis-a-vis BJP’s demand for the official celebration of the day.
BJP has maintained that the meeting is being held to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters who fought against the Nizam and Razakars.

Following India’s military action ‘Operation Polo’, popularly known as ‘police action’, the then Hyderabad state was merged with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948.
Every year, the saffron party workers try to hoist the national flag at government offices and public places to press for their demand for officially celebrating ‘Telangana Liberation Day’.
The Union home minister is also scheduled to inaugurate a blood donation camp in the Nirmal district of Telangana on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday today.
