Telangana MLC Election Results: One For BJP, One For PRTU
Karimnagar/Nalgonda/Hyderabad, Mar 4 (Maxim News): The results of the elections for two teachers MLC seats in the state have been announced. One of these was won by the BJP, while the other was won by the PRTU. While BJP candidate Malka Komaraiah won the Teachers’ MLC seat for Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad districts with first preference votes, PRTU candidate Sripal Reddy won the Teachers MLC seat for Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda district with second preference votes.
The vote counting process for the Graduate MLC seats for Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad districts began on Monday evening and is still ongoing. After the vote counting is completed, the ballot boxes will be tied and the counting process will begin after Tuesday afternoon.
19 candidates contested for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teacher MLC seat. Sripal Reddy won by a majority of 5,521 votes against his nearest rival, sitting MLC Alugubelli Narsi Reddy. Sripal Reddy got 13,969 votes, while Narsi Reddy got 8,848 votes. Sripal Reddy won, Election Returning Officer and Nalgonda District Collector Ila Tripathi announced on Monday night.
PRTU-TS backed candidate Pingili Sripal Reddy continued to be in the lead from the beginning. The counting was conducted in the strong room of the State Warehousing Corporation warehouses located in Arjalabavi, Nalgonda. Ballot boxes were brought from the strong rooms at 7 am and the process of tying the ballots on 25 tables in the counting hall was completed by 11 am. Then the counting began. The counting of first priority votes was completed by 3 pm.
Sripal Reddy secured the highest number of votes in the first priority. She got 6,035 votes, followed by Alugubelli Narsi Reddy with 4,820 votes and Galreddy Harshavardhan Reddy with 4,437 votes. Then Pula Ravinder came in fourth place with 3,115 votes and BJP candidate Sarottam Reddy in fifth place with 2,289 votes. Sundarraj Yadav was in sixth place with 2,040 votes. Except for one of the remaining candidates, all the others got less than 500 votes. (Maxim News)
