Hyderabad: The number of polling stations in Telangana has increased from 35,985 to 36,353 following the rationalisation of polling stations across the State.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy said the Election Commission of India has approved the revised polling station list for all 33 districts.
A total of 460 new polling stations have been proposed across Telangana. However, changes to the network also include relocation, renaming and merger of existing stations.
Nalgonda will get the highest number of new polling stations, with 49 additions. The district will have 1,861 polling stations across its six Assembly constituencies.
Hyderabad Gets 32 New Polling Stations
Hyderabad has received 32 new polling stations, taking the district’s total to 4,094.
Bahadurpura Assembly constituency has received the highest number of new stations in Hyderabad. The number has increased from 263 to 281, adding 18 polling stations.
Karwan has five new polling stations, taking its total from 311 to 316. Chandrayangutta has also received eight new stations, increasing its total from 305 to 313.
Secunderabad Cantonment has received one additional polling station, taking the total to 232.
Across Telangana, 551 polling stations have been proposed for relocation. Another 335 stations have been proposed for changes in nomenclature.
Meanwhile, 92 polling stations have been identified for deletion or merger as part of the rationalisation exercise.
The revised arrangements are aimed at streamlining polling infrastructure and ensuring better management of polling stations across Telangana ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
