Telangana Praja Jagruti Party Name Gets Clarification
- Kavitha seeks party registration amid delays
- Delhi High Court to hear plea on registration process
Hyderabad, March 19: Clarity has emerged over the new political party name proposed by Kalvakuntla Kavitha in Telangana. She has applied to register the party under the name “Telangana Praja Jagruti” (TPJ) with the Central Election Commission. However, the registration process has seen delays. Therefore, Kavitha has approached the Delhi High Court seeking intervention.
According to the available information, Kavitha filed the application for registration on January 23 this year. However, there has been no response or action from the Election Commission of India so far. As a result, she requested the court to direct the commission to review her application quickly and issue a decision. The Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear her petition today.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission informed the court that the application contained several technical issues. It also stated that this information was communicated to Kavitha on February 23. During a hearing on February 27, the commission’s counsel presented this update. However, the hearing was postponed because Kavitha’s senior counsel was hospitalized. Therefore, the case was adjourned to March 19, when it will be heard again.
Kavitha had earlier announced in January that she would form a new political party following developments within the BRS. She also said she would announce the party by Ugadi. However, the delay in registration appears to have pushed back the official announcement. At present, programs are being conducted under the “Jagruti” name, but it is not yet a registered political party.
The proposed name has drawn attention in political circles. Notably, it includes the word “Telangana,” which has sparked discussion about its possible political positioning. Earlier, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi changed its name to Bharat Rashtra Samithi, removing the word “Telangana.” Since then, criticism has emerged that the party distanced itself from the state identity. In this context, Kavitha’s choice of name has generated interest across Telangana politics. The official launch now depends on the completion of the registration process.
