Players come from several districts across the state, reflecting the spread of basketball talent. Each team has 12 players selected through a competitive auction. Mr Akash of the Hyderabad Hawks became the highest valued player after securing a bid of ₹2.5 lakh. The age of players ranges from 15 to 36 years, including students and working professionals.
Season 1 includes daily matches between 5 pm and 10 pm. The league will be conducted twice every year. Organisers project over ₹100 crore in direct and indirect business activity. He said, “Today, we have more than 10,000 active players participating across schools, colleges, academies, universities, and district associations.” R Sridhar Reddy, President of the association, said basketball is growing fast in Telangana with strong institutional backing. According to Srujana, “it’s an Incredible feeling to own a team, it’s pride, responsibility and constant buzz.” The Telangana Pro Basketball League is now shaping a new future for basketball in the state.
