Telangana Pro Basketball League Thrills Fans With Big Wins

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pro Basketball League delivered another high energy night as Warangal Warriors and Hyderabad Honey Badgers recorded impressive victories in Season 1 matches at the K.V.B.R. Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda. The league, which is the first professional basketball competition in Telangana and the second official state level professional league in India after Mizoram, continues to draw strong fan interest.
In the opening match, the Warangal Warriors defeated the Nizam Nawabs 85–69 in a contest that tested patience and discipline. The game began with both teams trading points in a competitive opening phase. However, the Warriors slowly gained control as the match progressed. They relied on tight defence and coordinated teamwork. As a result, they built a steady lead and closed the game with confidence.
Meanwhile, the second match of the evening saw the Hyderabad Honey Badgers register a commanding 97–78 win over the Khammam Knights. From the early stages, the Badgers set the tempo with aggressive offence. They maintained scoring momentum across quarters. Therefore, the Knights struggled to close the gap. The Honey Badgers stayed in control until the final whistle.
TPBL Season 1 has emerged as a vibrant sporting platform in the state. Fans filled the stadium and cheered loudly for their teams. Also, the lively match day atmosphere added to the appeal of watching professional basketball live. The league has offered fans close contests and visible rivalries, which has strengthened interest in the sport.
The season is currently underway and will continue until December 24. During this period, Hyderabad has turned into a centre of elite basketball action. All matches are being broadcast live. As a result, the league is reaching viewers across the region and beyond.
Adding to the evening’s significance, basketball veterans were felicitated at the venue. They were also invited to take part in a friendly symbolic match between games. This gesture highlighted their long standing contribution to the sport.
The Telangana Pro Basketball League features only players from Telangana. It focuses on promoting homegrown talent. Matches are scheduled daily between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The league is the brainchild of A. Prudhvishwar Reddy, General Secretary of the Telangana Basketball Association and a former Indian national player. Inspired by global leagues, TPBL aims to build a clear pathway for young players while strengthening grassroots basketball in the state.
